CANADA: STAND UP FOR TIBET

CANADA: STAND UP FOR TIBET

On July 1, 2026, China’s “Law on Promoting Ethnic Unity and Progress” came into force, creating a sweeping legal framework to accelerate the forced assimilation of Tibetans and other nationalities. This law threatens Tibet’s language, culture, religion, and identity while raising serious concerns about transnational repression and fundamental freedoms.

For Tibetans, this is not simply a policy change. It represents an existential threat to the survival of Tibet’s distinct identity.

The tragic self-immolation of Tibetan activist Pawo Lobga Rangzen on July 2, 2026 infront of the United Nations Headquarters in New York, in protest against China’s escalating repression and this law, underscores the urgent need for international action.

Sign this letter and call on the Government of Canada to publicly condemn this law, call for its repeal, and raise concerns about its implementation through diplomatic channels and international forums, including the United Nations.
